Enter — Initial Submission
The initial submission is a prototype / proof of concept, not a finished app — we're evaluating your idea and your approach, so don't let polish get in the way of a strong concept. Submissions openFriday 11 September 2026 and close at the prototype deadline, Friday 4 December 2026 (23:59 UTC−12, so the deadline has passed everywhere in the world).
Before you start, it's worth reading the judging criteria and the Programme Data page. You can't save and return to the form partway through, so prepare your answers first using the question list below. You'll need a working demo link, a walkthrough video link, and a public code repository URL.
What you'll be asked
The form has five sections:
- Your team — team name, lead contact name and email, a list of all team members with affiliation (one per line, in the format Name — Affiliation), country or region, and a conflict-of-interest declaration if anyone on the team is a CHI 2027 author, committee member, or organiser.
- Your app — app name, a link to a square app icon (min. 512×512px, committed to your repository), a tagline (max 80 characters), a one-line description (max 150 characters), a full description (max 500 words), and which attendees the app is for.
- Your app and your code — a live public URL for your working app (no login or invitation required), the URL of your public git repository, your open source licence, and a walkthrough video link (max 5 minutes). Both the app and the repository must stay accessible until at least the end of January 2027.
- Technical and legal — third-party libraries, APIs, models, and AI tools used; what personal data (if any) your app collects or processes; an intellectual property confirmation; and a commitment to comply with CHI's data protection requirements once shared with you.
- Optional extras — accessibility features (implemented and planned), details of any LLM or AI components, and anything else the judges should know, such as which parts of your demo are functional versus mocked up.
Note: file uploads aren't collected via the form — since every submission is open source, the icon and any other assets should live in your repository and be linked from there.
